Supplementing College Costs As A Digital Photographer and Photo Editor

The other day I was talking to a brilliant up-and-coming photographer. She was busy taking college courses, and was also an artist. She had experience with black and white film, and all the new digital technologies. She was well-versed with the best photo editing software as well. Since she was going to college she spent most of her time studying, but she still loved her hobby.

She hadn't spent a lot of time making money with all of her talents, but it did make sense to me that she should be supplementing her college costs while going to school doing digital photography and photo editing. Okay so let's talk, because maybe you are the same situation?

There are many authors that put together digital books. These writers get the format and templates online, then they create a digital book in Microsoft Word. Next thing they know they are selling it on Amazon as a Kindle e-book, or at Barnes & Noble as a Nook Book. Interestingly enough, Google and Apple also have digital books available in their catalogs.

But you know what helps sell a digital book best of all? It's the digital cover which is displayed as a thumbnail, or can be expanded on the catalog page for those who might like to purchase the book to take a look at. It turns out that people really do judge a book by its cover, even a digital online e-book. What I'm saying to you is this; if you're a college student and you are good with this digital technology, and photo editing you might find plenty of work helping authors who produce e-books create compelling covers.

You might be surprised that they would pay you as much as $50-$75 for each cover you create. If you are really good at it you can probably do it in a couple of hours. Those authors who produce many e-books or even writing clubs might bring you a tremendous amount of work. Plus, it is exceptional practice. Those same authors will need more digital photo editing for their websites, and those who are writers often know lots of people, and they can get your business off the ground by referring you from there.

They say practice makes perfect, and it takes a lot of practice to become a good photo editor. This might be one way to get paid for practicing, and it would sure help the bills of a college student trying to make ends meet, and worried about student loans.
