Conventional LED and Laser printers both function based on the same principles of electro photography. So how are they different? The answer lies in the image writing process:
LED Print Technology
A LED printer is a type of computer printer similar to the laser printer. LED technology uses a light emitting diode array as a light source in the print head. The LED bar pulse-flashes across the entire page width and creates the image on the print drum or belt as it moves past.
LED printers like OKI C5300 are more efficient and reliable than conventional laser printers. This is because they have fewer moving parts, allowing for less mechanical wear.
Depending on its design, LED printers would have faster print rates than some laser-based designs. They are also generally cheaper to manufacture than laser printers.
In contrast to LED printers, laser printers have to rely on elaborate combinations of rotating mirrors and lenses that must remain in alignment throughout their use. The laser component scans from one end of a line to another. The laser then begins on the next line in a much more cumbersome way than with a LED print head which has no moving parts.
Advantages of LED Printers Over Laser Printers
LED printers like OKI 5300 can produce superior image quality.
This is because of more accurate drum illumination. The Digital LED source consists of thousands of individual solid state Digital LED light sources that shine directly through focusing lenses onto the drum surface. The array stretches right across the drum thereby eliminating any possible parallax errors or timing errors.
Superior print quality through smaller dot size. Laser heads can produce dot sizes of 60m whereas LED printers like the OKI C5300 can produce dots as small as 34m. This allows the printer to provide better detail to printouts hence, higher quality output.
Superior Reliability. The Digital LED light source has no moving parts and therefore ultimately more reliable. This allows higher print speeds at higher resolutions than traditional laser light source.
Superior Speed. LED printer technology enables a printer to work faster and therefore operate at higher speed printers, at higher resolutions.
Basically, LED print technology is far more capable than the common laser printer technology. However, printers like OKI C5300 that has this kind of technology will not be able to function when out of toner. In order to continue printing, replace the current cartridge with either a compatible or an OEM toner cartridge.
