This is the question on anyone's mind that carries a regular compact
point-and-shoot type of camera. Why do I need a DSLR? I can take quality
photos with a compact camera, so why would I need a bigger camera?
The
differences become quite noticeable, from the design of the camera to
the sound it creates when a photo is taken: that all-familiar "click"
sound. The "click" is not a digitally reproduced sound, but actually a
mechanical click which was added to confer the camera more style.
In the following article I'll try to expose why you need to get a better camera, a DSLR.
Maybe you'll be asking yourself why they still make small compact cameras. What is their purpose?
Each
and every one of us had a compact camera. People simply cannot contain
themselves from taking a photo wherever they are. They feel the need to
immortalize a moment and they buy these compact cameras since they are
lightweight and hardly noticeable in a pocket.
Once they become
pros at taking photos with a compact camera, they need something with a
bit more kick, something which can reveal and bring out the true artist
in anyone. Once society evolved along with technology, people felt the
need for a more advanced camera to clarify, and capture moments at an
unprecedented level.
Here are some concrete examples of why we
need better cameras: we need to take a snapshot of the first athlete in a
competition which crosses the finish line. Also, crime investigators
needed something with a bit more performance in terms of quality, so
when they take crime-scene photos, those photos can be considered
incontestable evidence.
The paparazzi are always on the hunt for
new photos of starts in unwanted circumstances. Speaking of paparazzi, I
can give you a concrete example of why I purchased a DSLR camera. The
idea that you can sell photos to the local newspaper sounded pretty good
to me. The fact is that they don't accept photos taken with point and
shoot cameras. I gave the local newspaper some photos for free, but
simply the fact that they wrote my name under the picture was sufficient
credit for me.
In today's world you can become a professional
photographer or at least act like one. Since you'll be getting a
professional camera here's a few examples of what you can do with it.
Let's
say you're on a trip to Montana, with your friends and everyone knows
that while on the mountain there are the most beautiful landscapes you
can capture. Some of these images can be quite impressive and skeptics
will always claim they are retouched.
You can capture the mist
rising between the trees. These images you can later show your friends
and loved ones to provide them a general feel of the place you visited:
vividly colored butterflies which blend in with the background rainbow,
the bee which tries to land on a flower along with other wildlife which
you can capture only in nature and with an advanced camera.
If
you're more of a seaside person then you'll want to capture the
marvelous sunset while you're sitting on the beach with your loved one,
when the sea hits the rocks and the sea turning white near the
shoreline.
Even the people who are home will be very glad to watch
these pictures since it will make them feel like they were actually
there.
Aside from these simple facts, there's also a personal side
of the story which I noticed once I bought a DSLR. Even though I didn't
buy the latest generation Smartphone, to better mingle in some circles,
and even though I didn't have the latest car to drive my friends in or
just attract attention, the fact still remains that after I took my DSLR
out for a spin, my mingling suddenly changed and it became much easier
to blend in high-class crowds, along with attracting more attention from
the ladies. This is what makes owning a DSLR great.
To experience
everything I just mentioned, you'll need a DSLR along with a powerful
lens. The most important thing in a digital SLR camera is the
possibility to change the lens which is very important under different
photography circumstances.
These are some of the very few of the
qualities that come along with owning a DSLR. I must add that these are
some of the top motives I actually purchased a new camera for. Once you
purchase one of these cameras, everything changes from the way you take
your photos, the quality of pictures and even in terms of social
perception.
